1. The musician and activist Roger Waters, ex-member of the British band Pink Floyd, spoke out one more time in defense of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In an interview published on February 15th, he said, “the only reason why Lula is in prison is because he would have won the election with two hands tied behind his back. If he were allowed to run, which he couldn't because they put him in prison on false corruption charges.” Waters said that he had his right to visit Lula denied in Curitiba and said, “he is not a corrupt politician. 2. Hilal Elver, UN Special Rapporteur for the Right to Food, spoke of Lula's legacy in a debate that was held in the United States. He emphasized that the PT government was responsible for lifting 20 million people out of extreme poverty and that the former President, “prioritized the right to food and food security for the Brazilian population.” Hilal made a point of remembering that Brazil has not been on the UN FAO's World Hunger Map since 2015. 3. On this Thursday, February 21, former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be visited by Paulo Okamotto, President of the Lula Institute, and Márcio Macedo, former Congressman from Sergipe and national Vice President of the PT. After the meeting they will hold a press conference to transmit the former President's message to activists and to present his evaluation of the current conjuncture in the country.
