1. Fernando Morais, author of some of the greatest non fiction books ever published in Brazil, has announced the theme of his new book: Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. It does not have a title yet, but the book is nearly finished with the release expected this December. Unlike the biography, Lula, Son of Brazil (Denise Paraná, 1996) the new book will not attempt to tell the former President's story in chronological fashion. The focus of this biography will be on the two political imprisonments committed against Lula. Read more here:

2. On this Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28, cities across Brazil will be the site of activities in the 3rd National Joint Effort to Free Lula. In order to increase dialogue, some groups began activities yesterday, July 25th, or will start them this Friday, July 26th. In addition to these activities, there will be visual actions with signs and banners hung in public spaces across the country on Sunday, July 28th.  Read more here:

3. “In the name of our right to work. In the name of our right to exist. In the name of our right to vote, to choose, to hate. In the name of our divine right to love: Free Lula!” This was the declaration made by singer Maria Gadu on Thursday, July 25th, during her show in the third edition of the Serra da Capivara Opera in Piauí.
