1. This Thursday (July 25) Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be visited by Ceará state governor, Camilo Santana (PT), and Bahia Senator Jaques Wagner (PT), former governor of Bahia. A political prisoner since April 2018, Lula is entitled to receive a visit from two people every Thursday for one hour. Leaders from around the world have called on the former president to express their solidarity and their opposition to his arbitrary and political imprisonment. After meeting with the former president, Santana and Wagner will grant an interview at the Free Lula Vigil. Read more here:

2. The Free Lula International Committee Campaign will deliver the petition for the former president’s release to the Spanish Court on Thursday (July 25). The Free Lula Caravan Europe traveled through three countries (France, Portugal and Spain) in June and has received support from Podemos, the Spanish political party. The event in Spain will be attended by Maria Carvalho Dantas, a Brazilian parliamentarian representing Catalonia. The document, which is available in six languages and can be signed online, calls for an end to Lula’s unjust imprisonment. Read more here:

3. The “Mutirão Lula Livre” event, which always takes place in the last week of each month, will be held for the third time on July 27 and 28 across Brazil in order to get as many signatures as possible for the petition demanding that the sentence passed against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva be quashed. The committees have already started releasing their programs. Read more here:

4. Séfora Ávila, of Rio Grande do Norte state followed the example of thousands of students in Brazil and abroad and made an inspiring call for Lula to be freed during her law school graduation at FAFIC, in Cajazeiras, Paraíba state. Her action was recorded on video – yet another student who values and recognizes Lula’s legacy in the field of education. See the video here:

5. Samuel, from Piauí state, graduated in Biological Sciences at Piauí State University and also made a point of registering his protest against Lula’s political imprisonment and demanding his release.
