Straight from Curitiba – 8/1/2019 – 482 days of resistance – 8:40 PM

1. One of Lula’s messages that was communicated by PT President Gleisi Hoffmann on this Thursday, August 1st, after visiting him in Curitiba, gives the exact dimensions of  how the resistance against the setbacks imposed by far-right president Jair Bolsonaro against the people will unfold: “The PT has a great responsibility to Brasil,” said the former President. It is such a responsibility that the speech given at the Vigil by Gleisi, who visited Lula alongside Paulo Okamotto, president of the Lula Institute, and Congressman Emidio de Souza, one of the former president's attorneys, was all about the schedule of demonstrations and resistance actions for the month of August. 2. Faced with new revelations showing collusion between Lava Jato prosecutors and former judge Sérgio Moro, the Brazilian Association of Jurists for Democracy (ABJD) decided to launch the #MoroMente (Moro Lies) campaign. The campaign will officially start on August 19th and one of its goals will be to clarify the crimes and criminal activity committed by Sérgio Moro to the population. The idea is to show the people how he violated the Federal Constitution, especially in the case of the political arrest of former President Lula. Read more here:

3. On Twitter, Lula complained about the cuts to water delivery through the transposition of the São Francisco River to the city of Monteiro, Paraiba. “In March, the Bolsonaro government cut water delivery from the transposition of the São Francisco River to Monteiro, Paraiba. The public work was finished in 2017 and Boslsonaro simply cut off water delivery into the semi-arid region. It is incomprehensible and inhumane, and the press is completely silent about it,” he said. The transposition of the São Franscisco River was one of the great achievements of his government and changed the lives of the people in the semi-arid region. Remember this historic event here:

4. A fake news story has been circulating in WhatsApp groups that asks people to sign a petition for freedom for Lula. However, the link is false and has no connection to the Lula Livre National Committee’s campaign for the petition which will be delivered shortly to the Federal Supreme Court. Any other petition saying the same thing is false and does not have legal support. Please complain about it if you see it.
