Gleisi honors Lula, the first president member of the working class

Bulletin 435 – People's Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy

Straight from Curitiba – 4/30/2019 – 389 days of resistance – 7:30 PM

1. PT National President, Congresswoman Gleisi Hoffmann (PR) used the Hall of Congress on this Tuesday, April 30th, to pay tribute to the Brazilian working class, which commemorates its day tomorrow, May 1st, and to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the first member of the working class to occupy the highest position in the Republic. She spoke of the things that Lula did for the workers and for Brazilian society as a whole during his two mandates (2003-2010). “A leader who vocalizes the feelings of the people, who understands the pain of the people, who defends their rights and who defends Brazilian sovereignty,” she said. 2. The Lula Livre Vigil continues to receive activists from across the country who come to show their solidarity to former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Today the democratic resistance received a visit from comrade Almir, who came to the Vigil for the first time, along with Silvia, from London. Almir, who is from São Paulo, congratulated the Vigil for its struggle, while Silvia thanked the activists for their “enormous power and marvelous energy,” given to the former President. 3. On the morning of this Tuesday, April 30th, the PT Federal Districts Woman's Secretary, with help from the Red TrumPeTer, held an action on the upper platform of the Plano Piloto municipal bus station, in Brasilia, demanding immediate freedom for former President Lula. Congresswoman Erika Kokay, President of the Federal District PT organization, disseminated the demonstration on the social media. See more here:

4. Lula, speaking through his support staff, spoke on Twitter about a story on the decision made by Globo Organizations to order its journalists in all of the press vehicles owned by the corporation, to ignore the interview he made last week for Folha de São Paulo and El País newspapers. It is the first time that TV Globo has aligned with TV Record in this type of action. The two were the only TV companies to ignore the news, throwing journalism into the garbage and ignoring the fundamental right of their viewers and readers to information. Read more here:

5. A concert in Belo Horizonte by the band Los Hermanos, last weekend, was marked by political demonstrations in favor of former President Lula. Videos that are circulating on the social media show the crowd singing, “Olê, olê, olá, Lula, Lula,” and being accompanied by the musicians. Watch here:
